"My son Euan’s spleen injury."

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Paediatrics Major Trauma team

(as a service user),

My son was diagnosed with a grade3/4 spleen injury after an accident at Bmx racing club.

The care we received from the trauma consultant and other surgical staff at A&E was amazing! The initial consultant on Thursday 22nd at 9: 30pm ( possibly Marie) was unbelievably helpful, decisive and reassuring despite being completely run off her feet.

The colleagues who took over to allow her to continue her work, took us for or CT scan and were exceptional as well.

Mark and Linsdsay were extremely calming, reassuring and informative on the ward and were able to answer all queries in a friendly reassuring but realistic manner. This lead to our stay being easy to manage and my son having an understanding of everything that had happened and the importance of following guidelines without being at all scared or anxious. I am eternally great full for the help and support we received from the whole team.

Thank you! ! ! !

Dear circinussd87,

So sorry to hear about your son's accident on his BMX, this must have been a very difficult time for you and your family, and hope he is continuing to recover from his injuries.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share the care you and your son received for treatment of his injuries in the RHC.

It was lovely feedback, to hear how Marie, the Trauma Consultant and the ED staff were helpful and reassuring during your time in the Emergency Department.

The care you and your son also received whilst in the ward, with Mark and Lynsay by continually giving you and your son information in a calm and reassuring way helping to reduce his fears and anxiety, during what must have been a very distressing time, was great to hear.

I will make sure your feedback is shared with the teams involved in your son's care and to which I am sure they will be delighted that you took the time to share you and your son's experience.

Many Thanks

Mandy
