For a couple of months after my initial problem, several appointments were cancelled and I was getting very frustrated that no-one was taking my case seriously.
I finally went for my operation under general anaesthetic on a morning in April 2021 having had my pre-op assessment conducted by 'phone.
After I had been waiting in Surgical Admissions all day only to be told at 3.30pm that my operation had again been cancelled, I insisted on talking to a senior consultant. Despite telling the surgical admissions nurse that my pre-op assessment had been done by 'phone, they didn't arrange for blood test and ECG to be done.
This consultant was Dr Harper, who quickly and efficiently took charge of the issue and arranged for me to have the operation as an outpatient with a specialist Gynaecology nurse in the next few days.
Debbie rang me the next day and arranged my outpatient appointment.
The specialist nurse was Nicky assisted by Jen, with heath care assistants Olivia and Heather.
The procedure was explained and done with the utmost care and attention from all of these professionals. I felt greatly relieved that at last I had been treated like a person rather than like a number!
