"First Seizure"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Accident & Emergency Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66) Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a relative),

My partner had his first seizure last week, it was a very scary situation. He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth A&E department. Paramedics were amazing and very attentive. Due to COVID I could not go inside with him. The wait time was normal for an A&E department however when he was discharged they did not give my partner much information on what the blood result were , can he return to work and what he should do regarding his head injury. We were just told the first seizure team would get in touch with an appointment within the next two weeks.

My partners address was wrong at the hospital so I have been trying to contact the neurology department to ensure they have my partners correct details but no answer or getting put through to people that cannot help. I feel we have been left in the dark with little to no information on what’s happening. We just want to ensure there is no delay in the appointment.

Dear CanFletcher3101

Thank you for your taking your time to share your Feedback here on CareOpinion. I am so sorry to read about your partner having a siezure, this must have been completly terrifying for you both, especially as this has never happened before. It would have been worrying for yourself too when you could not be with your partner when he was taken in the ambulance, it is so unfortunate we cannot allow loved ones to travel with patients currently with the ongoing pandemic.

I am pleased to read that our crew were so attentive and I hope this put your mind at ease when your partner was transported to hospital. It really sounds like he was in good hands.

If you would like us to pass on your kind words to our crew, I can arrange this for you.If you would like this to happen, please may we ask you contact our Patient Experience Team at sas.feedback@nhs.scot with your partner's name, date and address of where we attended. Please may we ask you make reference to your CareOpinion Username which will easily link to your story.

I am sure QE will be in touch in respect of your Feedback in relation to hospital discharge.

I hope your partner is feeling much better and wish him well

Best Wishes

Lesley
