"referral from gp"

About: Clifton Hospital / Dermatology

(as the patient),

I was referred by my gp after two years of a problem with the skin on my fingers that I cannot resolve. ,   Feel really disappointed at the service I received at clifton.   I was rushed in and out in literally five minutes they told me there was little they could do as they were a wart virus but growing near my nail abnd I would have to continue treating them at home.   This is impossible every time I try to use the gel I literally bleed for hours.   I have tried everything at home and this was my last hope.   They did the liquid nitrogen but this was rushed and I was out the door and given a questionnaire to fill in.   I feel like they just didnt want to bother but this issue is affecting my mental health.

Thank you for sharing this feedback. I was sorry to read about your experience and that you felt not listened to and rushed through your appointment. I would be grateful if you could contact our Patient and Family Relations Team on bfwh.patientrelations@nhs.net or 01253 95 5588 and pass across your contact details so that we can look into this matter further. I will raise this concern with the dermatology staff at Clifton, and see what the recommendations there are as an alternative to the gel.

Hope to speak with you soon to try and resolve this matter.

Kind regards

Eleanor

As promised I have spoken to staff within the dermatology department who wanted to pass on their apologies that you felt hurried through your appointment.

They have advised that viral warts are treated as a cosmetic complaint, and are usually treated privately. This is due to the extremely high levels of skin cancer referrals which are directed through the service at the moment.

Please still contact us to look into this matter so we can see what support there is available for you to access privately. Spire offer lots of treatment options which may be considered as a suitable alternative.

Many thanks

Eleanor
