"ABC PIP SEHSCT, an invaluable service."

About: South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust / ABC PiP

(as a service user),

I am currently pregnant with my 4th child and have been able to use this service through both this and my third pregnancy. It is an invaluable service that has helped me bond with my babies during pregnancy and after helping me feel more confidence, supported and empowered through the entire maternity experience. I feel it has been extremely beneficial service in providing me with the additional support I need at a time when I feel more vulnerable, anxious and less confident than usual.

Being able to talk to Janine or Bronagh about any worries, concerns or barriers I face helps to provide a sense of security and provides a continuity of care that isn't always achievable in the typical maternity care framework. It has worked well alongside other perinatal mental health care I have received. They were able to run zoom courses such as mellow bumps which was amazing as it again provided support but also helped provide a sense of connection and reduced the isolation associated with pregnancy during the coronavirus pandemic. It provided a place to discuss concerns, feelings and ideas with other mums and form peer support.

Even having previous children being able to bounce of the ideas and concerns of others in a safe place was amazing and helped alot to alleviate anxieties and stress. The ABC PIP service is just amazing for providing the extra support that some people need in the transition to parenthood and Janine and Bronagh do a wonderful job in delivering the service in both a professional yet fun, friendly and caring way.

ABC PIP is a service for parents to be and families of babies up to 24 months old.

The service aims to form stronger bonds and postive relationships between parents and their baby.We offer Mellow bumps as a 6 weeks course over zoom. The aim is to decrease stress and isolation and increse social support in preparation for parenthood.

The first course has just finished and we were delighted with the uptake and how mums attended and interacted with each other. We are really looking forward to running again soon.
