"Breast screening service"

I have had many breast screening appts in the last 18 years, all of which I approach with trepidation knowing that they will be uncomfortable, awkward, and that they will bring forth a wave of memories and emotions. My radiologist today was amazing. She began by asking how I was feeling about being there, something I have never previously been asked. She listened attentively while I waffled on about my past experiences with a warm smile. She then talked me through exactly what was going to happen, and told me what she was doing and why at each stage, encouraging me to tell her if it was too uncomfortable. Her warmth, understanding and encouragement made this screening appt so much more manageable than any I have ever had before, and there have been a few!! My appt was 11am on 15th April, hopefully she will know who she is! Thank you so much.
