"Unfriendly experience of Frimley Park EPU"

About: Frimley Park Hospital / Gynaecology

(as a service user),

I began to bleed and loose blood at 8 weeks. I called the community midwife team and they said to wait and see if it stopped. So I waited and it didn’t.

I was then referred for a early scan a further day later. I arrived for the scan. It was awful. I was given a form to complete by a very unfriendly receptionist and told to take a seat in the corridor where social distancing is impossible as the corridor is a meter wide and everyone has to walk through it to get to main building. There is no privacy, no air flow and no human kindness.

I waited over an hour for a scan to see if my baby was alive after 3 days of panic and upset at home. I then waited in a hot unventilated corridor for an unsympathetic, unapologetic team to offer me reassurance that never came.

I have 3 children and this was without a doubt the worst care I have received in hospital and during a pandemic I would expect more in terms of safety, privacy and dignity.

I am so sorry you had this experience this is not our usual standard at all. I have forwarded your comment to the Head of Midwifery and Head of Nursing to see what we can do to ensure this does not occur, you should not have to wait in a corridor and we will look at that as well.
