"Stay in Causeway Medical Wards"

About: Causeway Hospital / Accident & Emergency Causeway Hospital / Medical 2

(as a service user),

Admitted to emergency after a blackout at home via doctor on call.  Spent 24 hours there before transferred to MAU where I was closely monitored by a fantastic team before transfer to Medical 2.  As an inpatient tests were completed and efficiently as they would have been slower as an outpatient.  Everything possible was checked to make sure my discharge would be as easy as possible so that my return home and work (wouldn't impact those).

Staff are fantastic - they work long hours using face coverings (which cannot be easy in heat) and yet still have an enthusiastic, professional approach.

Everything is kept really clean so the team of cleaning staff need praise as they do an amazing job too.  I do think however, some older patients need some music as it really changes their mood for the better.  I did try this but some nurses didn't like it.  It changed the dynamic in ward and with some staff.  However, no complaints - A big A*

xraykj96, thank you so much for your really positive feedback, in relation to your recent experience as a patient in Causeway hospital.

Staff do work long hours, and yes it has been a challenge in terms of working with PPE in place. However, staff have risen to this challenge, as they know it is the right thing to do. They have continued to nurse our patient's with care and compassion.

I am very glad to hear your comment on your observation of how clean our hospital environment is. During this past year, our domestic teams have been invaluable in the fight against Covid 19.

It will give me great pleasure to share your lovely comments with our teams. These comments will motivate staff, and encourage morale.

Thank you and best wishes.

Natalie McLaughlin
