"They only seemed to care about freeing up beds"

About: Crieff Community Hospital / Community In-Patient Wards

(as a relative),

I had an elderly family member as a patient in this hospital, it has the most uncaring staff I have ever came across. They could have prevented several injuries to her but failed to. They only seemed to care about freeing up beds, I felt totally discriminating because of her age. They were rude in telephone communications. I am astonished at how appallingly she was treated in here. Harassed to finish meals and no real time spent caring for her. I felt that staff were bullies to decision-makers.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your concerns about Crieff community hospital and the care your relative received. I was sorry to read about your experience.

Your feelings about the unit were difficult to read not the experience we want for any patient or their loved one. I am so sorry you have been left feeling the way you describe. I have shared your post with the Senior Charge Nurse of the unit and she was also sorry and disappointed. Myself and the Senior Charge Nurse would be happy to talk with you or meet with to understand your experience and look at any improvement we can make or explanation that you require.

If you would like the opportunity to talk or to meet with us please contact me by email at lindsey.bailie@nhs.scot
