"They always had a smile or a wave for my son"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Accident & emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

My 1 year old son recently had croup, which was a terrifying experience. We had to take him to A& E in the middle of the night before it got any more serious. From the minute we arrived, the nurses were so kind and friendly putting myself and my son at ease, so much so that he was smiling and waving at everyone. We spent most of the night in the department and it was clear to see how busy they were and yet they always had a smile or a wave for my son as they rushed past. One of the nurses even gave him an ipad to play with, which was a great distraction! In a time where our nhs is so busy and these nurses must be under so much stress, they showed such kindness to my son and I and it made a scary experience far more bearable. Thank you!

Dear Hmac077

Thank you for taking the time to feedback regarding your recent experience. It must have been really frightening for you and your son. I was delighted to hear that staff (although busy) treated you with kindness and were able to find innovative ways to distract your son to reduce any additional stress and anxiety. Our staff really are a credit to NHS Forth Valley.

I will be sure to pass on your feedback to staff.

I hope your son is recovering well.

Kind Regards

Jude
