"My Mum being in hospital Feb - March 2021"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / General surgery Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Intensive care unit

(as a relative),

I just want to say the biggest thank you to the staff involved in looking after my mum after she became acutely unwell in Feb 2021. Sadly, she passed away mid-March but had received amazing care from our ITU post operatively and then when it became obvious that she wasn't going to recover from the staff of Ward B11 at FVRH.

As things stand, without normal visiting, the staff in ITU were so kind in every call and video communication they made with us. They explained every situation, allowing me time to consider my thoughts and helped me to make decisions for Mum. Her grandchildren got to see her, and she knew they had been in contact via video calls, this meant the world to me.

In Ward B11 the care she received from every single person she came into contact with was exemplary. They could not have done enough for us as a family. As she was receiving end of life care, I was able to be with her.

I would just like to say the biggest thank you to Dr McIlveney and all staff in ITU and C/N Robertson and all the staff in B11 and the Palliative Care Teams and Chaplains at FVRH.

Dear mumof3chm

Please accept my sincere condolences on the recent sad loss of your mum. I appreciate how difficult things are just now around visiting and ensuring families are allow to spend valuable time with their love ones.

It is always good to hear how we have done from a families perspective. I appreciate you taking time to give us this lovely feedback at what has been a difficult time for you. I will ensure this is shared with the teams who you have mentioned.

Take Care

Dear Mumof3chm

Thank you so much for your kind review of the ward and the team especially when you are going through this difficult time.

I am very proud of my team on B11 and so happy that they were able to make your mums stay in the ward as good as it could be.

Morale has been hit hard in the last year and comments like your really boost the team and help us to carry on.

Please accept our condolences and we hope that you are ok and are remaining safe

Take care and all the best

Kris Robertson
