"Crisis team at Bassetlaw"

About: Adult Mental Health Crisis Services / Crisis Team Mid Notts & Bassetlaw

(as a service user),

On the advice of my Gp, Bassetlaw action team, cab, I called the crisis team. I spoke to a member of staff there. I have been suffering with ptsd flashbacks and nightmares for months. Unfortunately all my coping strategies have failed and more suppressed memories are beginning to surface. I think I’ve coped really well over the years. I never like asking for help, preferring to sort things myself.

Apparently I was a great inconvenience to this person who asked why I had called stating they did not wish to hear any details, to stop being impatient as things take time, and again asked why I thought I needed to ring? They carried on with what felt like abusive comments so I apologised, saying I had obviously misunderstood what they were there for. I then took an overdose, I don’t drink/ do drugs/self harm. I’ve always tried to cope. They finished me. I can’t even get into my garden.  I think people like them should not be working with vulnerable people. This could have ended very badly. I have passed their name on.

Dear Serpensre68,

First of all please allow me to thank you for raising this issue and then apologise for the service you have received from the Crisis Team, this sounds as though it fell well short of the standards we would expect from our staff.

I would like to understand more fully what has happened and find out if there is anything we can do for you and whether there are other lessons we can learn to improve the service for others.

Please feel free to contact me by whichever means you are most comfortable with.

Kind Regards

Michael Thomas, Service Manager

Mid Notts, Bassetlaw CRHT’s, 136 Jasmine Suite and Bassetlaw Liaison Team.
