Why do staff speak to us on the phone using terrible quality speakers? Several times over the years I have had to contact my GP surgery and sometimes the Down and Lisburn Out Of Hours service. When I make contact I am usually very ill and this makes communication difficult. I find it very difficult to understand the person who is using the bad quality phone speaker and while I appreciate they need their hands free to type etc I find it excruciatingly challenging to get my point across and indeed to hear what they are saying.
I don't have a hearing issue. The whole experience was difficult. I am just off the phone this morning to Out of Hours service and the person on the other end of the phone hardly gave me time to finish my sentences, was abrupt and rude. I am feeling very ill and surely a little bit of common sense to communicate clearly to me, not interrupt and upset me would be a good idea.
