"Sanitation for immuno-compromised patients"

About: Hereford County Hospital / General medicine

(as a service user),

I am so anxious as immunocompromised infected person.

1 cleanliness. My room was cleaned nearly every day- did not involve washing the floor of the bedroom. The surfaces were not sanitized every day, clinical things fallen to the floor would be picked up by the cleaner and placed back for nurses to use- this involved IV tap covers.  The windows are dusty inside. Dust and refuse blows up into the window from the filthy roof top space. Seagulls and pigeon fly around all day

2. Infection control. I do not have my own single patient use BP cuff.  Other patients are exposed after me. And I after them. The monitor is wheeled in and out. Not cleaned down before using with me or wiped after that I know of before moving to next person. I know this may affect timeliness

3.Nurse / carer does not gel gloves before or after taking any personal observations. similarly many things like Drug lap top will be carried into my room and placed on the seat of my chair or bed - side chest. These areas have not been cleaned once in last few days at least. And certainly not the advertised 2 hourly

4. Patients are not given hand wipes before and after meals. Just two insubstantial tissue like napkins. Cutlery does not come in a wrapper to demonstrate cleanliness. Who knows about plates? My drinking cup was changed for the first time in 8 days yesterday The water jug may be refilled. Not sure when they are collected properly washed at the correct temp and returned to patients. ? (Is all this multi patient use safe in time of Covid-19 and or immuno compromised patients (like me) or all people-

I have contacted PALs the staff I have spoken to either say we are very busy with old people or say this is what we do.
