"It's different being on the other side"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Accident & Emergency Royal Alexandra Hospital / General Surgery (wards 19, 20, 24, 26 &29)

(as a service user),

I was admitted as an emergency patient via A& E after experiencing abdominal pain.

From the staff in the Emergency Department to the staff in ward 20-   everyone was so nice and helpful. Miss Gray was also very good at keeping me updated on my plan. I wasn’t able to have my operation done due to the surgical team being busy with emergencies- but did have it done 2 days after being discharged.

I would also like to give a massive thank you to the theatre staff. Being a healthcare professional is one thing, but it’s completely different being on the other side. They took the time to calm my nerves and give me a lot of reassurance whilst waiting to go in to theatre.

Proud to be part of the NHS.

Dear relative63

"Being on the other side" is certainly a scary scenario as a fellow healthcare professional. It is kind of you to recognise the care and attention afforded to you from the Emergency Department through to the Surgical Team and Theatre. Your words of appreciation will be so well received by all involved.

I will ensure to share your post with my own immediate colleagues in the Emergency Department as well team Surgery and Theatre. It is great recognition and acknowledgment of those involved in your care.

Thank you for using Care Opinion and I wish you a speedy recovery.

Gerry
