Dermatology Services and COVID

Last year, the dermatology clinics were cancelled due to COVID. This left our teenage son who was on the Nurse Led Isotretinoin Clinic in limbo.  It is probably a good thing that he was home schooled and could not go out as his skin had become badly affected and his morale an all time low. 

This is really to say a huge thank you to Jackie and the team at Cumnock Surgery as they organised an antibiotic for him over this period and it has kept the really bad effects away.  Today, he attended his first clinic for over a year and they were very pleased with his skin.  

For me as a parent with not one but two teenage boys, to know the surgery were able to help us out during this difficult time was so reassuring and I really cannot thank them enough.

Dear Roseannness

I am sorry to hear about the delays your son has encountered with his dermatology care due to COVID-19. We are conscious of the effect this has had on routine activity but are acting on national guidance.

It is so nice to hear that during these unprecedented times, your son has been well attended to by his GP practice. I think at times we under estimate the role of our family GP and in particular their marvellous response to the pandemic and all the difficulties it has brought.

Im delighted to hear of your son's progress and your positive feedback im sure will be well received by the practice team.

Hi Laura,

Thank you so much for your response. I just wanted to make sure that you know my post is no slight on the Dermatology Services - the team in this department are second to none and were absolutely amazing with my Son.

Sadly, they must be as frustrated as the patients but they do such a good job and I really did not want them to think we felt they had failed us in any way.
