"Sexual Health Clinic"

About: Fife Community Services / Sexual Health

(as the patient),

I was really nervous to phone the sexual health clinic, especially during the pandemic, and also feeling vulnerable because I was going through a difficult experience.

A nurse called Susan answered the phone, and straight away her genuine kindness put me at ease and made me feel able to let her know what was happening and why I needed help. Susan didn't hurry me, she took the time to really listen and hear what I needed and what she could do to help. I can’t begin to express how much difference this made.
After letting me know it would be best to come in, Susan kindly gave directions knowing that I would be nervous to travel during the covid lockdown. Her directions were spot on! At the clinic Susan kindly saw me so that I didn't have to tell my story again to someone new, knowing that would be hard for me.
Susan’s care was amazing from the start to finish. With a kind heart and safe space to talk after bracing myself to make that call, to taking the most painless test I have ever had! and following-up to make sure I had contacts for further help. I was really moved by Susan’s care and want to thank her and the team at Whyteman’s Brae Hospital. You are helping people so much at a time when they really need it, thank you.

Dear Help to find your voice, thank you for taking the time to feed back about your experience of the Sexual Health service and with Susan in particular. I appreciate how difficult it can sometimes be to access sexual health care, as do my colleagues, therefore it is a priority of ours to provide a safe space and to offer support with compassion and understanding. I am sorry to hear that you have been going through a difficult time recently and I am pleased that Susan was able to make a difference. Susan and the team at Whyteman's Brae will also be very thankful for your kind words.

Kirsty Durham, Sexual Health Senior Charge Nurse
