"Unsure of my treatment"

I was admitted to Monklands Hospital in mid March with broken ribs? Chipped Vertebrae? I am still unsure to the extent of my injuries, I was given a CT scan to make sure there was no damage to my spine and put on self-regulated morphine drip. After what initially felt like a good recovery - I was definitely in less pain and started to even get some mobility I was given a catheter without a real explanation despite being able to control my bladder and even get up and go to the ward toilet.

Having a catheter fitted obviously restricted my mobility so by the 2nd day I was bed bound, I was asked to sign a document which I am still unsure as to what it was. The morphine drip was replaced with two sets of pills (unknown) and the catheter remained until the Monday morning. When after discussion and my request the catheter was removed (the attending doctor seems unsure to why one had been fitted in the first place.

Unsure of what my treatment was to be and as I was no unencumbered by any needles or other paraphernalia I decided to get out of the hospital for my own mental and physical health, I was told I could not leave but countered with if they actually thought I was in danger they should have me sectioned otherwise I was leaving as I felt unsafe and I felt that the level of care was dangerously low.

To give context to these events - I was unable to receive visitors and what was happening to me seemed to differ from what was been told to my next of kin. When the hospital contacted my next of kin on Monday they seemed to suggest that I was displaying characteristics of an alcoholic in withdrawal to explain why I was demanding to leave the hospital. They also made accusation of aggression. The accusations of aggression may have been believable (I am by no means a saint) but as someone who has been a light drinker their entire adult life the accusation of being a heavy "drinker" was enough to convince my next of kin to immediately come and pick me up.

I have had no contact with the hospital since but I do intend to request the notes on what procedures and medicines were prescribed during my short stay. Within 24hours of leaving the hospital my appetite had returned and I had greater mobility. 

I am still in recovery with slight twinges but feel I am coping well.
