"First class staff but the communication should be better"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow)

(as a parent/guardian),

My son was seen February 2020 for a lump on his head.   Due to covid the scans were put back, understandably,   we were then given an ultrasound appt for October 2020 which we attended. We waited 2 months for the results after many phone calls and much chasing. Fast forward to Feb  2021 and my son had an MRI. Again had to chase results for 4 weeks and given diagnosis of intracranial dermoid cyst and an urgent referal to neurosurgery was made. We have now waited 3 weeks and still no appt  ( had been informed would be seen within 1 week). The communication is very frustrating but the staff are world class and the hospital is fantastic. Just wish the communication with parents was better.

Dear FMummy,

I am so very sorry for the obvious worry and anxiety caused to you as a result of both the waiting and the lack of communication.

Please can you get in touch with me directly: coral.brady@ggc.scot.nhs.uk. I'd really like to help get this sorted.

Thank you so much for getting in touch

Take care

Coral
