"Queued longer this time"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Covid Vaccination Programme

(as a service user),

I received a phone call inviting me for my second vaccination, ten weeks after my first, at 09: 30. I arrived about ten minutes early and queued for approximately fifty minutes - much longer than for the first vaccination.

Everything was well organised with military precision except that the signs said "keep to the left" and we queued on the right!

Dear Eridanusqx54

Thank you for your feedback following your recent trip to our vaccination clinic. I am sorry to hear that you had to wait longer than you were expecting to. There are often circumstances that are out of our control that cause delays and make it difficult for us to manage waiting times.

We have listened to your feedback regarding your waiting time and yesterday we introduced an extra vaccination station that we will use at peak periods to improve the flow and decrease waiting times. Whilst this will not totally alleviate the problem we do hope it will help to improve the queuing significantly.

With regards to the signs, I apologise that you found them confusing. We are practising a 'keep left' policy throughout the whole of the hospital to help maintain social distancing. However because of where the doors/exits are placed in the corridor that we are queuing, we have to queue on the right. We have volunteers in place to help guide patients and staff and ensure that we are maintaining social distancing however I will feed your comments back to the team.
