"My daughter has been recently diagnosed with JIA"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Pain management University Hospital Monklands / Trauma & orthopaedics University Hospital Wishaw / Rheumatology

(as a service user),

My daughter has recently been diagnosed with JIA. I have been delighted with the care she has received so far. From her first visit to the Orthopaedic department at Monklands where she was sent for an MRI, to the prompt follow up and referral to rheumatology at Wishaw (Dr Lee's), where she got her diagnosis.

Dr Lee was great, and explained her condition in a language we understood, she told me she would try and get her appointments for pain control as soon as possible and she wasn't kidding. Since then she had had her first steroid injection ( Glasgow Sick Children's Hospital) and an appointment for physio through, all in the space of 4 weeks. Her arthritis nurse (Catriona) has also been in touch to offer support. I have been really happy with all of the staff involved who have made this horrible diagnosis journey alot easier. Too many people are happy to share negatives opinions on the NHS, so I wanted to share our experience 😊 thank you πŸ˜ŠπŸ™

Dear herongn63,

What a hugely worrying time for your daughter, and for you and your family! I am so pleased that our team here in Glasgow, in partnership with our friends / colleagues in Lanarkshire have been able to support you all, and that this has happened quickly.

You're right, getting a new diagnosis can be a horrendous experience, and I'm so glad you've trusted us with your daughter's care, and that we've been able to help.

We will always be here for your daughter, and for you throughout the care she will require going forwards.

Can I also please take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to you. The time you've taken to let us know how happy you are with the support received means the world to us. This will be shared directly with the teams involved, and our senior management team will also pass on their own thanks.

Finally, can I please send sincere best wishes to your daughter, along with the hope that she's now feeling better and that she continues to improve.

Take care

Coral

Dear herongn63

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your daughters recent experience of services at University Hospital Monklands and University Hospital Wishaw. This must have been a very worrying time for you as a family.

I am so pleased to hear that you and your daughter found the journey of investigations and consultation with Dr Lee to be quick and of a high standard. I am also delighted to hear that your daughter has received her pain control and physiotherapy appointments and has met her specialist nurse Catriona. NHS Lanarkshire and Greater Glasgow and Clyde strive to work together to support patients like your daughter and their families and it is lovely to hear of your positive experience.

I wish your daughter well.

kind regards
