Following a telephone consultation with my consultant today, I thought I’d like to share my experience of the IBD team at the RAH in Paisley. For over 20 years, I have attended the RAH in Paisley for Crohn’s Disease. During that time, I have seen an improvement in the service provided to patients since the set up of the IBD Helpline.Via the helpline, the brilliant Alan, Seth and Fiona provide invaluable advice re medication and the management of symptoms but, equally important, they provide reassurance when my Crohn’s is bad and I feel at my lowest ebb. The communication and co-ordination between the IBD nurses and my consultant, Dr Naismith, is excellent. I’m sure many people have experienced doctors with a paternal attitude who simply dictate what our treatment should be but Dr Naismith always listens to my opinions and concerns and discusses my options. He takes time to explain new treatments and is always honest about the likelihood of success of such treatments. Dr Naismith’s secretary, Karen, should also get a mention for being lovely, helpful and professional.I can’t thank Dr Naismith’s IBD team enough for the care I’ve had over the years, nor can I over emphasise the importance of having access to such a team.
"Excellent IBD team at RAH, Paisley"
