"I felt my vaccinator didn't believe me"

About: Southern Health & Social Care Trust / COVID vaccination programme

(as a service user),

All the staff couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful except my vaccinator. She told me the appointments were for registered carers only and where was my shielding letter? (Why would I have a shielding letter, I'm a carer).

I said I was a carer and have my carer's ID card but she didn't want to see it. She said the booking site had to be closed down because of false claimers. I said I knew but I was a carer. I felt she was accusing me I was not carer.

Dear Ellhj83,Thank you so much for providing this feedback in relation to your experience of receiving your COVID vaccination. I have shared your kind comments about the staff who you described as “couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful” with the Lead Nurse for the Vaccination Service

I have also discussed your comments with her about your concern regarding your Vaccinator. She will remind all vaccinators that their role is to safely assess for and administer the vaccine and not to question the reason for receiving it.

I apologise for the distress that this caused you.

I hope you keep safe and well

Best wishes

Christine Armstrong
