"They were all superb!"

About: Victoria Hospital / Day Intervention Unit Victoria Hospital / Endoscopy

(as the patient),

Following a five day stay in the Vic hospital in January re ongoing stomach problems, the Consultant advised me that I would be called back for a Gastroscopy procedure. A week or so later I was rang at home by the Endoscopy re. arranging an appointment. Christi was the excellent young lady who made the arrangements and her calm friendly manner was much appreciated and overall this lady was absolutely superb and very endearing.

A day into the fourth week of my discharge from the ENT I was back in to the Vic and the Endoscopy unit. Having had this procedure many years previously I was not looking forward to it as my previous experience was not that good!

The second I walked in and registered my mind was at rest as every single person who dealt with me yesterday was simply outstanding and in fact, like Christi, they were all superb!!!

Within 3-4 mins I was ushered through to the ward, ahead of time, by the vastly experienced Charge Nurse called Jean. Her 44 yrs of sterling service shone through as she was calm, precise and very reassuring in everything she did for me both before and after the actual procedure. In fact an hour or so afterwards she even walked with me to meet my wife outside the hospital and as I said to her it was 5* service/treatment all the way.

S/N Kerrie then wheeled me through to theatre and she was angelic like to my mind and her lovely calm voice was again relaxing and very reassuring. Kerrie is a true star to my eyes! S/N Angela was in the theatre with Mr. Naqvi and she was just like Jean and Kerrie. I have met Mr. Naqvi before on the wards and yet again his calm caring approach was for me outstanding and no wonder he works well with Mr. Driscoll (who is a Consultant of the highest standards)

This was the first time that I had been given the throat spray and the sedative and boy what a great difference as far as having no  pain or discomfort what so ever. True progress and I humbly thank Mr. Naqvi and all the nursing team for fantastic care and attention . To have this done on a Sunday morning was simply an added bonus as the hospital is much less busy both inside and outside.

Thank you all and just as I found everything great on the wards in January this was possibly the best experience of having treatment that I have ever experienced.

Dear aurigapk55

Thank you so much for taking the time to post your feedback on Care Opinion.

Coming for a procedure can be daunting and I know our staff work hard to provide as much information and reassurance as possible. It was lovely to read that our staff got it just right for you and that you had such a great experience when you came for your gastroscopy procedure.

I will share your post with Mr Naqvi, Kristy, Jean, Kerrie and the rest of the team. Your kind comments will surely brighten up their Monday morning.

I hope that you have recovered well from your procedure.

Thanks again and best wishes

Gill
