"Receptionist didn't believe me"

About: Stenhouse Medical Centre

(as a service user),

I asked the surgery receptionist about an appointment I'd had booked for 2 days previously for a phonecall. Despite keeping my mobile phone switched on and with me for the whole afternoon and being within easy reach of the landline phone the whole time, I had not received a call so I was enquiring about whether I should still expect a call.

The receptionist said that the person had tried to phone me twice during that afternoon and I would have to rebook. They made it very clear that they didn't believe me when I claimed not to have received a call. I may be a pensioner but I am not gaga. I am quite techno-savy and I could tell from my phone log that no such calls had been received. I object to being treated as old and confused - they just dismissed me. With reluctance they checked that the right mobile number was on my records - which it was. I accepted that I should rebook but I was left feeling belittled.
