"Accessing help feels impossible"

About: Crisis Mental Health / Single point of access team (SPA) & Emotional Wellbeing Service (EWS)

(as a service user),

Ringing SPA has been a waste of time. Just ring Rethink or the Samaritans. Chances are that is where they will tell you to go anyway. Same with OOH 0114 271 6310 - the message actually encourages you to ring both rather than seeking help or support from MH services in Sheffield via SHSC trust.

Update posted by Big Red (a service user)

The response is as expected. Only 3 staff members out of 9 that were notified have read my concern. To me this, shows the lack of professionalism within services and the Mental Health support structure in Sheffield.

I just cannot face another gaslighting 'you are seeing it all wrong' and a very patronising conversation that I know is filled with lies.

OOH when you contact them., the recorded message tells you in the first instance to contact charities being Rethink or the Samaritans. It then asks that, 'If you would still like a call back from the OOH team' to leave your DOB name and a contact number. Even after talking with OOH I am no better off than if I had spoken with the faceless 'as OOH will take it no further forward' services of Rethink or the Samaritans. I have been told my life is my own and I choose what to do with it, this to me defines SHSC NHS Trust’s approach to my care succinctly
