I work with a lady who has given me permission to tell her story on her behalf.
The lady has a visual impairment and additional health issues.
She receives support from two care providers. One of these supports is working really well for her. The other provider was giving her 30 mins support daily in the evening. To stabilise her mental health she was having to take medication 3 times a day which her provider was supporting her with. The provider is now offering her support for 15 mins each day due to issues around her medication. This support would be more beneficial at tea time so the lady can have a meal heated for her. This is important as she is also Diabetic.
Her medication for her mental health cannot be put in a nomad by the chemist due to it's size and also it crumbles when it is being removed from the nomad. Her providers can no longer support her with the medication for this reason due to their procedures. The district nurse has stated the medication needs to be administered 3 times each day and not twice. The lady has made contact with her Doctors on a few occasions to discuss this issue and to find alternative solutions. She has been told that someone would give her a call back but as yet no one has contacted her.
In the meantime her mental health is regressing.
