Having been considered low risk, all antenatal appointments were at the Mater hospital with the hope of birthing at their midwifery led unit.
Unfortunately due to my waters breaking and no spontaneous labour I was admitted to the Royal for induction. Although I was devastated I had to go to the Royal the care I received was exceptional.
I had a long induction and each midwife (all 4 due to shift change) were incredible. They ensured I was comfortable, kept on top of pain relief and ensured my husband was comfortable as it was a long labour. I could not have got through delivering my baby boy without the help and support of the midwives. I also received excellent care from the midwives on the postnatal ward.
A very positive and different experience from how I had planned but I am very thankful for all the midwives in the Royal Maternity Hospital.
