"Still waiting for a gynecology referral"

About: Dumfries & Galloway Community Services / Health Visiting Dumfries & Galloway Community Services / Midwifery Galloway Community Hospital / Gynaecology Galloway Community Hospital / Maternity

(as a service user),

In August I had my first baby naturally but had some complications due major tear and blood loss that resulted in my being taken to theatre for suturing and have 2 transfusions.

I was discharged from hospital had midwife care at home and was discharged as normal to my health visitor.

At my 6 week check up I asked the advanced practitioner to look at my stitches as I was still uncomfortable and it pain. I was reassured that I may take a little longer to feel normal again. Due to the trauma from the birth. I wasn't contacted or seen by gynaecology after having complications.

At 16 weeks I still wasn't feeling great and was unable to have intercourse of any kind. I decided to speak to my health visitor as she was the only person available to me and that I felt comfortable talking to. I knew the challenges I was having wernt normal and experiencing unbearable pain and I was uncomfortable. My health visitor talked through this with me and then spoke to my GP about getting me referred to gynaecology. My GP wanted the advanced practitioner to send the referral as she was the one that seen me at 6 weeks. She was off sick at this point. It wasn't until I rang and asked the GP to send the referral in that he took action. After the HV already sending written evidence of the problems I was facing.

I was finally referred at the end of November. I was told that it could be up to 12 weeks before I would hear of an appointment. The referred was marked as routine and then all appointments have been put on hold. I feel that this should have been urgent due to already not been seen after the birth and now having problems.

I have rang appointments numerous times to d&g. I have spoken to the gyne secretary and they can do nothing, Spoken to my doctor that can do nothing, spoken to my midwife that looked after me when I was pregnant. I'm constantly getting nowhere. It's really starting to affect me mentally, emotionally and physically. I feel totally neglected by nhs Scotland.

It's now over 6 months from I have had my baby and no one has been in contact with me. I am a young woman I shouldn't be having these problems.
