Close relative discharged from Hairmyers , lunchtime, this week.
Told her medication was not ready, so she would have to go home and collect a prescription from the hospital later in the day and go to a local pharmacy where hopefully her medication would be in stock.
My relative is in her 60, is ill, clearly,. Lives 15 miles away from East Kilbride and has no way of just returning to the hospital later in the day , collecting a prescription and then trawling around local pharmacies.
My question is,
Why allow a patient to leave hospital without the necessary medication?
To expect anyone to make a return journey to the hospital that same day to pick up a prescription for necessary medication is ludicrous.
What is the rational/ justification for this shoddy treatment?
