"Brilliant care after prostate cancer diagnosis"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Urology The Woodland Medical Practice

(as the patient),

I was invited to go to my GPs last June after having various telephone appointments with the nurse practitioner after feeling unwell for sometime. The nurse gave me an examination and was concerned that I might have an enlarged liver. She then got the GP in for a second opinion. He examined me and referred me to Lincoln hospital that same day. After a covid test it returned a positive result.

I was then moved to a private room, and over the next week I had xrays, ct scans, ecg etc finally to be told I have prostate cancer which had also spread to other areas.

After a week I was sent home and I am getting all the help and support I need. All of the staff in hospital were brilliant and helped me through a very difficult and emotional time without family being able to visit me. Since then the oncologists and Urology staff have been absolutely marvellous with treatment for a condition which is controllable but not curable. And of course my Macmillan nurses have been brilliant ever since.

I cannot thank all the staff enough for the care and support I have had and am continuing to receive.
