"Incredible support with my drug misuse and addiction"

About: Change Grow Live Cambridgeshire

(as a service user),

For the last 6 months I received the most valuable, critical and specialised support regarding my severe problem with drug abuse and addiction.

Having developed and losing control over my problem and choice of lifestyle, I thought there was no way out and could see I was quickly following a downward spiral pathway. My drug problem has been so severe that I sadly could not just stop consuming and if I did it may be detrimental to my health. I self referred to the CGL team in Cambridge, where I was assigned a support worker, Tony.

Tony has supported me in my darkest hours, given me valuable information, and the chance of a life changing opportunity to access a specialised residential medical detox along with residential rehabilitation. So many health services could not and would not be able to offer me support and help. But CGL Cambridge, and Particularly Tony have not given up on me, even in this testing time of the pandemic and lockdown.

The skills and qualities that Tony has are to an exceptional high standard, even when I found it difficult to communicate the problems I was experiencing. Tony never judged me and his own life experiences have made it easier for me to open up and start the process of changing my life.

Thank you very much for all your support and high quality of care that you have given me throughout this life-changing journey.

Hi

Well that's a wonderful way to end the week. Thank you for your kind words. Ill pass them on to Tony and all of the team at Cambridge. Its easy and predictable to say lockdown has been hard for everyone, but it really has. Its great that you have still managed to work with Tony and others towards rehab and I'm sure you will make a huge success of it. Many say that rehab is just the start of it and recovery continues forever. Keep working at it and of course keep getting the support from us. We are here as long as you need it.

Thanks

Paul Pescud
