"Visit to GP regarding chronic pain"

About: General practices in Greater Glasgow & Clyde

(as the patient),

New doctor wanted to  stop my cocodamol pain meds and replace them with paracetamol, I struggle to walk and also sleep due to pain, sarcoidosis and fybromyalgia is the cause, been on these meds for over 10 years, is she correct, I'm worried about pain rising as if I miss a dose I'm in agony,

Thanks

Dear Superbpxf

Thank you for getting in touch.

I understand your concerns regarding the changes to your medication. In the first instance, I would suggest speaking to your GP to discuss your worries or the Practice Manager.

If you don’t feel comfortable doing this, you can get in touch with us at PatientExperience@ggc.scot.nhs.uk and we can share your post with the GP Practice.

There are some websites for people with chronic pain that you may find useful.

https://painconcern.org.uk/ - this organisation that provides advice and support to people with chronic pain.

https://painassociation.co.uk/ - this is a Scottish Charity which also provides advice and support.

www.paintoolkit.org - this resource has been developed by someone who has lived with chronic pain.

I hope this helps.

Best wishes

Nicole
