My Mum has been unwell for a few weeks but has deteriorated in the last 4 days with what we suspect is heart failure due to her symptoms.
She called 111 as advised to do so by her GP and the doctor she spoke with advised her to get a covid test and made arrangements for her to be reviewed by a doctor later that day, she came to Lister Street for this review and covid test , ( which was a struggle as she can hardly walk due to feeling so unwell) the doctor came into the room, she attempted to show them her swollen legs, they replied, “you do know you’re not here for that, you’re here for a test”. She didn’t have the strength to argue or state she had been told to come to have a review by a doctor.
She now has an appointment with her own GP tomorrow who is finally taking some action by commencing her on diuretics and taking bloods, shame this never happened when she was reviewed by the doctor at Lister Street.
What happened to getting the right care at the right time at the right place, that certainly hasn’t been our experience.
"Poor care experienced by my unwell Mum"
