"Fracture Clinic & x-ray"

About: Camborne Redruth Community Hospital Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a parent/guardian),

I have attended Fracture Clinic with my daughter 3 times in the last week and wanted to say how positive our experience was. The 'online check in' was easy to use and I very quickly got my confirmation texts to go into the department. On arriving, the welcome from the receptionist was always so friendly and helpful (I'm so sorry I didn't get her name. Also all of the Healthcare Assistants were so kind, especially Mandy today - thank you.

We saw Mr Brennan for the first 2 appointments and Mr Easwaran today. Both doctors were brilliant, they introduced themselves every time and really put me and my daughter at ease. Everything was explained and all of my questions answered patiently. Thank you!

Our experience in the (trauma) x-ray department was a bit more mixed. On the first two occasions neither radiographer (or student with them) introduced themselves. Such a small but really important thing. One was still very friendly however, the other not so much sadly.

Today, however, we had the pleasure of meeting Laura (Radiographer) and Aaron (Clinical Imaging Assistant). I wanted to say how utterly wonderful these two members of your team are; they introduced themselves, were kind, compassionate, and my daughter was beaming from ear to ear after we left there today!

Finally, a big thank you also to the male radiographer in Camborne Redruth MIU x-ray department, on Wednesday 27th Jan at around 5pm. I'm afraid I was so worried at this point I didn't catch his name, but he was so kind, at a really anxious time. He did have a student with him though who again didn't introduce herself or speak to me or my daughter once, even though she was helping to move my daughter's leg into position. Again, such a small thing but so so important when coming into the healthcare profession. I'm really passionate about the #hellomynameis campaign.

In summary, thank you again RCHT staff for being so #brilliant, especially in this tough and unprecedented time.

On behalf of Clinical Imaging, thank you for your kind words and taking the time to feedback where we can make improvements.

We are reminding all our team to introduce themselves, this is the expectation of our staff and visiting students. We fully support the "hello my name is" campaign and issue badges to all new starters. As part of your feedback we have taken this opportunity to encourage staff to wear their badges and replace lost badges.

We have fed back your specific positive feedback to our Cambourne Radiographer and wish to send our best wishes to you both.

Glenda Shaw
