It was my first experience of a District Nurse from Bromley Healthcare. Her name was Sam. I had had problems with a new catheter which had been inserted just a few days ago. There had been some blood going into it, I did not know how to attach the night time additional bag and the leg straps were loose causing the catheter to tug. This was probably the cause of the bleed. Within 3 minutes Sam taught me all I needed to know. I opened the windows fully when Sam arrived for her protection and mine even though I was Covid negative from a test only two days earlier we obviously both were very careful to protect each other. I had been in hospital which is where the catheter had been installed but had not been able to understand what to do because I was tired and confused. Thanks Sam for being so brave, to come into our home and care for me and for demonstrating outstanding competence and communication. On the way out of my bedroom Sam reassured me that my urine was an appropriate colour and that the amount of bleeding I had experienced was normal. That was five seconds of excellent communication.
I have found Bromley Healthcare to be an extremely well managed organisation. The management structure has hardly any tiers meaning it is very streamline and cost effective. I can reliably inform the reader that if you email the Chief Executive at 8pm on a Saturday evening about something that may not even be very urgent, you may well receive an answer by 8.30pm. That really is leading by example.
Well done Bromley Healthcare. You are an outstanding organisation.
