I attended A&E via emergency ambulance - as a lower, priority patient. Straight off the cuff when I met my doctor I felt like I was back in high school being sent to the headteachers office. They didn't appear sympathetic in the slightest - felt more like the spanish inquisition than seeing a doctor!
Whilst I am aware I attended A&E over a trivial mistake most of us make when growing up as a young adult; I was very panicked and didn't know what else to do. However I didn't appreciate the "you're wasting my time" attitude by the A&E Consultant. They discharged me whilst giving a "I'm judging you" lecture and saying that "you attended via emergency ambulance when they are sick people in need of help and in need of a bed, we're not here to bail you out of your stupid mistakes. Especially as you are in education you should know better. ok now get out".
They also used outdated lines of questioning such as 'how long have you been abusing...." when as far as I'm aware its "something use" or "how often do you use etc". They made it seem like I'm a full blown drug addict which I can assure you I am not. They made me feel like I was at the bottom of the barrel kind of person. Consultant or not; human to human - in a vulnerable position the last thing you need is your strict headteacher kicking you while you're down. Take away the badge and this is a person and I didn't appreciate being treated in that many.
Side note - my paramedic and nursing care were second to none - very friendly and understanding. definitely NOT giving off strict teachers attitudes
"Consultant needs an attitude check!"
