"Balmoral Ward"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a relative),

My 87 year old Grandma was admitted here just before Christmas with a broken leg following a fall after a mini stroke.

During this stay her hearing aid was ‘misplaced’ - this was a very expensive CIC hearing aid, the ward searched high and low, no sign. We ordered a new custom aid and in the meantime she had no hearing aid whatsoever, when we called she couldn’t hear us all that well, and she relied a lot on lip reading when the staff spoke to her.

My Grandma had mentioned a pain in her nose to the staff during her stay and on the day she was discharged, some 2 weeks later she sneezed and something in her nose moved. A nurse exclaimed “what’s that in your nose?” - The missing hearing aid.
