"Removal of a sqamous cell carcinoma"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Dermatology

(as the patient),

Referred by family GP to consultant, first check & biopsy 8/2020, assessment by 2 consultants 10/2020 then surgical removal by consultant 11/2020. Sutures out & paper stitches in 11/2020.

All good, then various weekly appointments at the Queen Margaret Hospital for dressings 1/2021. Adhoc appointment with consultant 2/2021 who was satisfied with the overall result.

Service from dermatology  and plastic surgery clinics was excellent, all following written notifications.

All staff from reception to nurses and doctors/consultants were superb with their care, 'bedside' manner and physical treatment of the problem. Good people, everyone.

The coronavirus safety measures at the hospital were impressive, I was comfortable within the building and not at all anxious about attending for treatment.

In the past, in my opinion there were too many members of the public congregating in the entrance/cafe area in respect of health and safety. The current situation is how it should be, people can socialise off the premises.

Dear Hillwalker,

On behalf of the Plastic Surgery Doctors and Nurses, I would like to thank you for taking the time to share your positive experience while under our care. I will make sure that everyone in the team sees your comments regarding bedside manner and care of your problem in our clinics.

Things are very different at the Hospital just now, equally for patients and staff. I am happy to hear that you felt safe and reassured by the measures we have in place. They will probably carry on for a while!

I hope you continue to recover and if you are returning for follow up, your next experience is as good as your last.

Kind regards

Lynn Coyne

Dear Hillwalker,

Thank you so much for taking the time to offer positive feedback and a timeline on your experience within Dermatology and Plastic Surgery, at Queen margaret Hospital.

I am pleased the journey from your family GP to Dermatology and Plastic Surgery has been positve and you have been able highlight a superb "bedside manner" and pysical care of your problem. It sounds like you have attended several appointments for your problem and I wish you a good recovery.

Positive patient feedback is always brilliant to recieve and in turn gives the staff a boost and knowlegde that we are delivering our care well. I will share your experience and feedback with the whole Dermatology team, including the mentioned consultants/doctors, nurses and the reception staff.

The hopital environment is currently different for staff and patients alike and I am pleased you felt reassured with the additional measures in place for the Pandemic. As stated by Plastic surgery, it may be a while yet though!

Kind regards

Fiona Mitchell
