I was told to go to A& E by the 111service as I had been experiencing breathlessness, palpitations and dizziness for some considerable time and the medication, which I had been prescribed, didn't appear to have made any difference. After preliminary checks I was taken to a bay in A& E. I was admitted into the care of Carla, an HCA in A& E. Her professional, sympathetic and caring attitude was all too evident in the way in which she put me at ease, while going about her tasks with calm reassurance and in a very kind and considerate manner.
She inserted a cannular into my arm and when this was removed some 5 days later, there was only the smallest pinprick to show there had been anything there at all. I was also fed and watered regularly! ! Cups of tea were brought without my being made to feel that it was any trouble at all.
Patient care, second to none. Carla started her shift at 4pm, just as I was being admitted and finished her shift, just as I was taken to a ward. Eight hours of personal care! I would also like to acknowledge another member of staff for a special mention.
Bethany was also on duty for some of the time I was in A& E. Another warm, sensitive and considerate member of this team. I cannot thank either of them enough for everything they did for me, between them. Nothing was too much trouble and I would like them to get some sort of acknowledgment of my appreciation of all their warm hearted, understanding and helpful treatment I received from them.
