"Birth of Baby Girl"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Maternity unit

(as a service user),

I want to thank everyone who helped with the birth of my baby daughter at the start of January. The midwives and support staff in Maternity Triage, the team on Ward 7, the support staff, midwives, paediatrics team, domestics, house keepers in ward 8, everyone were just wonderful and I can’t thank them enough. After a speedy delivery and bit of a traumatic time, the entire team were amazing. They supported me after a trip to theatre, They gave great emotional support when I was having a bit of a tough time after my labour and my wee one having to stay in for 4 days. I really appreciated the debrief given by the doctor from ward 7 the following day to explain what had happened during my labour as it was all a bit of a blur at the time! I really must thank all of the support given by staff with breastfeeding as well. I feel their support has really helped me to succeed with feeding at home. I can appreciate how stressful things can be at the moment with COVID-19 but all the staff were very professional, caring and supportive for me and my family during this whole experience. Thank you again!

Dear nachosmile

Congratulations on the birth of your little girl. I am sure she will be bringing such pleasure during these unusual times.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. It is wonderful to hear such praise for the whole team and how everyone played a part in supporting you through the ups and downs of what sounds like a bit of a bumpy experience.

Having the opportunity to discuss events can make a big difference especially when things have been a bit overwhelming and a blur at the time.

I am thrilled to hear that the early support given has helped breastfeeding continue and go well for you and your wee girl.

I will make sure that your posting is shared throughout the unit, it will cheer everyone up.

Enjoy this special time as a new family.

With best wishes

Gail
