I attended A&E at the Ulster Hospital on 4th January and was admitted to Ward 4A. I was diagnosed with Covid Pneumonia and had a long hard fight, being treated with cpap, airvo, tocilzumab and antibiotics before being discharged on 15th. On the 18th, I suffered a high heart rate and was attended by paramedics and ambulance staff before admission to Ward 6C in the Ulster Hospital. Following various checks I was discharged on 20th January.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to all the nursing and medical staff in A/E, 4A, 6C, Chaplain and to the ambulance and paramedic staff for their incredible care. Thanks also to the domestic, catering and portering staff who are often forgotten in this pandemic. There were so many staff involved in my treatment and care, it is difficult to name them all. But to those staff I commend your care and attention, and the way in which you made me laugh, despite my condition and discomfort. Your encouragement in difficult and lonely times will always be remembered, particularly as I couldn’t see my family.
I would particularly like to mention Dr Johnny in A/E. In 4A Sister Gillian, Nurses Rachel, Naomi and wee Jackie and medical staff Dr Darren and Dr O’Kane. From the Paramedics & Ambulance Service thank you to Sean, Gary and Aeilsa.
Once again thank you all for your dedication in these difficult and challenging times.
