"My granny died with dignity"

About: Antrim/Ballymena / Community Specialist Palliative Care Team Causeway / Community Specialist Palliative Care Team

(as a relative),

My grandmother took very unwell on New Year’s Eve. When we rang the doctor on call we were told a Marie Curie nurse would come out and assess her.

The Marie Curie nurse arrived at 11:30pm and was nothing but amazing, so supportive and compassionate. My granny passed away at 11:59pm and the nurse stayed with us for a few hours to comfort us and made the process so much easier.

The nurse went above and beyond her job role in comforting us as a family and ensuring my granny died with dignity which was our one wish.

First I would like to offer you our deepest sympathy on your recent loss of your Grandmother.

Many thanks for your kind words I will share this with Marie Currie, We are continually trying to improve end of life care for everyone and are pleased on this occasion your wishes as a family were achieved.
