I needed to have a colonoscopy done, in the Victoria hospital Kirkcaldy Fife.
Right from the get go I was made to feel at ease. I was not frightened of the procedure as such, but a bit apprehensive. There really was no need. From the nurse who did my checklist, who chatted away, (we put the world to rights, she also had gorgeous horses) to the staff I recognised from childhood, (we had a walk down memory lane) even staff just passing the door who said hello. Everyone was so pleasant and not contrived at all. Genuinely nice people. The procedure itself, carried out by CNS Michelle and Dr. Jafferbhoy along with S/N Cusick was not at all painful. They explained in detail exactly what they were looking at and why. I felt totally comfortable and at ease during the examination. Back in recovery the nurses there were a pleasure, chatting, having a laugh, but still doing their job. The toast was as good as a steak after eating nothing for more than 24 hours, thank you. Before I left I was given my report, what the examination had found was explained to me. What the follow up will entail also explained. Definitely not a bad experience at all. I would just like to say thank you all very much. You're a great bunch. Keep up the good work.
