"Their compassion helped my mental state"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Accident & emergency

(as the patient),

I was recently a patient in A&E in FVRH and wanted to thank the student nurse, registered nurse and the CT2 doctor who looked after me.

I came in as a MH patient and I was really really anxious as when I had been to A&E before I didn't really feel understood or cared about - not to say my medical treatment wasn't gold standard - I just felt more judged than seen as 'this is a patient who needs help'. So it was a relief when I came in this time and the stn and Rn who looked after me were very kind and compassionate - they were really relaxed and knew how to 'correctly go about' asking me questions about my admissions. I know MH admissions to A&E can be challenging sometimes because as far as I am aware most of the nurses who work there are registered in adult nursing rather than MH and appreciate its not their typical day to day field.

But I do want to thank the nurse and student nurse (who's names sadly escape me I do apologise! I just know it was on a nightshift) who looked after me and praise them for how they handled my situation - I really felt comfortable and cared about which I think in any admission is important  but especially in an MH admission.

I also wanna thank the CT2(or 3) doctor who looked after me; I can't quite remember her name sorry but know she told me she's training to be a GP. She was very lovely and noticed with her whenever she came to speak to me about test results etc she waited until she was essentially right next to my bed and spoke quite softly so that it would have been difficult for other staff or patients to hear what was being said. Which I quite liked because I felt like it was just her and the nurse / student nurse who knew why I was there which made me feel relaxed as I didn't particular want the whole A&E team to know why I am there as you can imagine! the student nurse and registered nurse also did the same thing - spoke very calmly with me and made sure they waited until they were right next to me before talking about things so no one else could hear.

So thank you very much for your care you gave me and hopefully (in the nicest way possible) I don't come in again anytime soon.
