About: Southern Health & Social Care Trust / COVID vaccination programme

(as a staff member),

The person administering my vaccine did not check over my information, ask me about allergies or other contraindications to receiving the vaccine. They did not get the drawn up volume checked with a second person and administered the injection too high up my arm, causing significant pain and mobility difficulties for over a week. I find this all very concerning. Having experience giving vaccinations myself, in my opinion this is not correct procedure.

Dear lovepb86, thank you for taking the time to tell us about your recent experience of receiving your COVID vaccination. We are disappointed to read your comments in relation to the procedure. The requirement to complete the checklist has been addressed at all safety briefs by the team leads to ensure that the checklist points are gone through with each person being vaccinated. When the volume is being drawn up, it is not a mandatory requirement to have it checked, this is at the discretion of the individual practitioner, working within the scope of an agreed Patient Group Direction.

We are sorry to read that you experienced significant pain at the injection site, this has been reported as a common post vaccine complaint.
