"My opinions on the care I received"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / 3 South

(as a service user),

My personal opinion of the staff in Craigavon hospital.

The covid wards staff lead  by Dr Khilji. Are to an individual totally and utterly inspiring. I am in awe of them.

Special shout out to my  Filipino nurses Shelia and Jason. And not too go past Nurse Shanna who sorted out the dressing on my infected left shin. Shortly before I received the confirmation that I was being released from ward 3 south. I could never figure out my bed number.

All the staff. All the great many staff. From all the health boards throughout Northern Ireland. And the private sector paramedics. The medical students from Queens university. The specialist doctors who volunteered to either do a complete shift on top of their own or who simply were drafted in to fill in for sick colleagues.

Plus.

The catering, cleaning staff and porters.

Not to forget the staff in the entrance hall to the hospital, who diligently ensured all visitors and walk in patients were fully masked and had sanitised their hands.

You all have my humble admiration, you are a shining example of humanity at its very very best.

Thank you all so much. Thank for maintaining and saving so many lives and showing such dignity to those who sadly pass peacefully having been shown so much unrestricted love and care.

You are all heroes. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. For helping me to recover so quickly and sharing a joke with me and a bit of "craic" when you could catch your breathe and pause where you stood. I hope my humour did not offend any one and my offers of giving you all a 5 star trust pilot review was not too glib. I was frightened for myself , you all and especially those who remained in your care after my discharge and those yet to enter it. This virus has challenged you all very greatly. But you are incredibly resilient and you all possess the skill sets upon which we all depend

Good Afternoon

Thank you for the lovely feedback for all members of the team in 3 South and multiple staff throughout the hospital. It has been very well received by the teams and really boosts everyone to keep going through this very challenging time. Staff value this so much more than I can write down.

We hope you continue to recover well and keep safe

Sarah

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I know first hand all your staff are totally committed and incredibly busy.

I would love to list the nurses, catering and cleaning staff that made my stay in the ward a whole lot less frightening. The staff were petrified of accidental skin to skin contact. Believe me I wanted to keep you all safe.

Continuing to be in awe of you all.

Would it be possible to stand the tall porter, who managed to wheel my considerable bulk out of the ward and after following the yellow arrow out of Hospital, the price of a pint of beer and maybe a wee whiskey chaser?

I would be bankrupt if I bought a round for all your staff. But if you would permitted the porter to toast my recovery it would be a small step on my way to repay the kindness that was heaped upon me.

I have now to fight for my after care as the district nurse in her opinion considers my ulcers to be well enough healed. But they are petrified of entering a covid house and finishing the treatment plan as specified by the hospital Doctors in my discharge forms.
