"Poor website Information"

About: Babington Hospital

From the Babington website page I could not find a site plan. There was no mention of the Day Unit, which is where the COVID-19 vaccinations are carried out. In the world-famous organisation I worked for in my working life this sort of shoddy design was called "lack of customer focus". It doesn't cost much, but your patients would arrive less stressed if they know the way before they arrive.

Thank you for your feedback.

As an NHS Community trust operating out of more than 170 premises and with very regular changes to the services being offered from some of those sites we made a decision that it was counter-productive to produce sitemaps that go out of date very quickly. Our reception staff are very aware of where services are based and are able to direct visitors. We also make good use of internal signage.

Babington Hospital site can be used by other groups – as in this case by the GP led Primary Care Network delivering the Covid Vaccination programme.

There is signage on the A6 “Covid Vaccination Centre” and this leads into a totally dedicated car park area for these patients.

We have got at least 10 marshalls on that car park. We then have Marshall Stations guiding the patient for whole journey round to the entrance where their name and time slot are taken and they are marked as “Arrived” they then move to the next marshall point and guided into the hall for their vaccination.

Once the patient has received the vaccination they are then picked up and guided back out on a 1 ways system by a marshall.

The reason we have called it “Covid Vaccination Centre” is so that there was no confusion as the Day Unit Service is still running but from a different area within the Hospital.

We felt that it would not help a patient knowing the covid vaccination centre would be held in the “Day Unit Hall” because the entry and exit routes are very different from when it was running as a Day Unit Centre.

We have also had dedicated separate marshall’s to be on hand to help any patient in a wheelchair, or needed assisted walking. Babington Hospital has received very good feedback from patients saying how easy they found the whole process.

DCHS NHS FT is currently updating our web platform and as part of that process is reviewing the content from a visitor perspective. We may decide to include a basic site map for our main centres in the future.
