"Housing support"

About: Inclusion Isle of Wight

(as a service user),

IF I did not have the support that was given to me there is a possibility I would of been dead, I was homeless and living on park benches and was eventfully picked up by the homeless outreach team who put me in contact with inclusion this is where I met Mark, I was able to swallow my pride and asked for help for my alcohol use and stated working on a reduction and the alcohol workbooks provided to me I found this a great help and a positive impact and was able to make changes to my drinking, I have not had a drink in 2021 and can honestly say for the first time ever I am able to praise myself. My keyworker at inclusion put me in touch with Fort Cumberland and Veterans outreach who have been able to house me I am very thankful for the help I have received. all the teams involved with my journey have been amazing, I know I need to keep working on myself to maintain my recovery. what's more I now know I can achieve goals I set. Thank you.

I would like to begin by thanking you for your feedback rw2021.

The team have been working hard during the pandemic to expand our service to make it as accessible as possible to the people on the Island who need it. Mark L's role is managed by us but has been funded in partnership with the local authority as an innovative step to provide support to those who experience issues around housing and homelessness.

Your feedback enables us to see that things are working well. You rightly mention that you need to give yourself some praise for taking the opportunity to access support and actively change your circumstances. Our service works on a voluntary basis so it is you who have made that choice and we are pleased to have been part of your journey. We have been focusing on making firm alliances with our partner agencies as well, and it sounds like you have also taken advantage of this opportunity in accessing some of the services open to veterans. It is really heartening to hear this.

If you would like to share your experiences further then call us on 01983 526654 and ask for details of our Service User Voice meetings and also information on our volunteer programme as lived experience is so vital to many recovery journeys.

Thanks again.
