"Dreadful attitude to the care of their patients"

About: St Bede Medical Centre

My mother, who is in her 90s & has severe underlying problems 'phoned the reception on a few occasions to ask about the Covid vaccine as many of her friends who were younger and less vulnerable had received theirs. She was told repeatedly to wait to be contacted. Recently the authorities reported that everyone in Sunderland over the age of 80 had been offered the vaccine so I went to the practice to enquire about her situation. I was told in a rude and dismissive fashion that she would have to wait to be contacted. the reception staff are always careful not to be overtly rude in case they are overheard, instead they use what is known in the army as "dumb insolence", acting as if you are stupid for even questioning them. I immediately contacted the CCG who were excellent and within a couple of hours my mother was given an appointment for her vaccination. She was not trying to jump any queues or get preferential treatment, she just wanted to ensure she was not forgotten, but she was made to feel like a nuisance.
